Inside the Home of Evelin B

My images reveal the invisible space between language and the visual world, a space in which truth, fantasies and realities are constructed.

My artwork tends to focus on environment, human nature and material wealth, in where my schematic compositions invite the viewer to move into a space of speculation.

My lens focuses on the smaller claustrophobic and aggressive details in my grandmothers housing- such as objects, scale and surface. Most of my photographs are in film, cropped and angled to reflect my position in the house because I don’t plan things in advance. Within that my snapshot perspective communicates her intimacy. The images break the stereotype of glamour but also aspire the code of beauty. I rely on our desires for beauty, poetics and seduction and telling details which offer commentary on society’s obsession with surface and display.

My name is Janine Egger and I live in Berlin. I mostly work in Film and in the medium of painting. My work exposes concepts of space , time and society. I am interested in the bold and beautiful.
